CDRI and WHO India are collaborating with the Sikkim government to enhance the resilience of the state’s health facilities against disasters. Through targeted training, technical assistance, and policy guidance, the initiative has impacted hospitals across all six districts, improving emergency preparedness, disaster planning, and resilience. By establishing a roadmap for long-term resilience, the project’s success in Sikkim is now serving as a model for similar efforts in other countries.

Sikkim’s health system has integrated workshops, fire safety audits, and mock drills to enhance hospitals’ emergency preparedness. A dedicated fire officer and a disaster management committee ensures effective risk management, strengthening healthcare infrastructure to protect patients, staff, and critical medical services.
